Membership Terms of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) Queensland
All members of the Institute of Public Administration Australia Queensland (ABN 74 210 810 471) (Institute, we, us, our) are bound by our Rules of Incorporation in force from time to time. These terms and conditions should be in conjunction with the Rules of Incorporation and the Corporate Governance Charter.

As an Incorporated Association, members shall be required to pay any membership fee decided by the Council of the Institute (Council) from time to time and endorsed by members at a general meeting in the manner and as required by the Council under our Rules of Incorporation
Membership and membership rights are personal to the member and are not transferable.
Membership Application
Admittance to membership is subject to our receipt of your completed Membership Application Form and payment of the membership fee.
An application for membership of the Institute must be in writing and in the form decided by the Council.
For applications for membership by individuals, the application should specify the class of membership being sought - namely:
- Full;
- Student; or
- Digital.
To be eligible for membership persons must meet the requirements for membership determined by the Council from time to time and in the case of individual must be aged 18 years or older.
In your Membership Application Form you are required to provide true and correct information, and make a declaration about certain matters. Please provide as much detail as possible so that your application may be assessed. You must meet the criteria for membership. The criteria is set out in the Application Form. Information about membership status, eligibility criteria, the admission process and ongoing requirements, is set out in the Membership Application Form and the Rules of Incorporation. The Council has the ultimate decision-making authority in relation to admission into membership under the Rules of Incorporation.
Whilst we aim to advise you of your membership application status as soon as possible after receipt of your application or nomination in some instances, this process may take up to [3 months] and we will keep you informed as to timing.
If accepted, your membership is for a period ending on 30 June.
Membership Renewal
Your membership must be renewed within two months of the renewal date.
Your eligibility to renew is subject to your payment of the membership fee and your ongoing compliance with the eligibility criteria.
Refund of Membership Fees
We only provide refunds of membership fees in limited circumstances, namely:
- If your membership application has been declined; or
- If Exceptional circumstances prevent you from continuing your membership.
Privacy
By submitting a Membership Application Form, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy (accessible at https://qld.ipaa.org.au/privacy/) and agree with and consent to the terms and conditions of that Privacy Policy.
When your membership ends
Under the Rules of Incorporation, membership may end in the following circumstances - where:
(1) you resign;
(2) if the Council terminates your membership by written notice in accordance with the Rules of Incorporation where you:
(a) are convicted of an indictable offence;
(b) do not comply with any of the provisions of the Rules of Incorporation;
(c) have membership fees in arrears for at least 2 months; or
(d) conduct yourself in a way considered to be injurious or prejudicial to the character, reputation or interests of the Institute.
General
From time to time, we may update these Terms and Conditions. The updated Terms and Conditions will apply to all membership applications from the time of posting on our website onwards. As a condition of your membership you may be required to comply with other policies and guidelines applicable from time to time, including our Corporate Governance Charter and the policies referred to in that document, available at the following URL: https://qld.ipaa.org.au/its-your-ipaa/our-governance/. We will make these documents available on our website. You may not use the Institute’s logo or trademark without prior written permission from the Institute.
